Can The Redmi K20 Pro Compete Against OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro?

Xiaomi will soon launch its next flagship smartphone Redmi K20 Pro in India. After OnePlus launched its latest flagship OnePlus 7 Pro and OnePlus 7, Xiaomi trolled the OnePlus 7 series by taking it to twitter and running ads on various platform like YouTube.

Since then users are eagerly waiting for the launch of the Redmi K20 Pro. It has been recently launched in China and in the first sale millions of units of this smartphone were sold in a few minutes. Xiaomi is also promoting this smartphone in the name of the flagship killer. Will the Redmi K20 Pro be able to challenge the OnePlus 7 Pro in the right way ? Let’s know.

Redmi K20 Pro vs OnePlus 7 Pro: Performance

The flagship smartphone’s most remarkable thing is its performance. Both these smartphones have Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset processor. This processor is built with 7nm architecture and has been the Adreno 640 GPU. In terms of performance, there is not much difference between the two smartphones. OnePlus 7 Pro has an advantage that it has the OxygenOS UI, which is superior to the Redmi K20 Pro’s MIUI user interface. OxygenOS performs almost like the stock Android.

Since both the smartphones have Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor so both the phones can give the best performance while gaming. Both of these smartphones have advanced Liquid Cooling architecture which keeps the phone’s performance better while playing a game. Apart from this, both of the smartphones come with game modes which make it even better by optimizing the games.

Both the smartphones come with latest Android 9 pie and both are compatible for Android Q Beta. You get instant access to Android Q in both of these devices. While the OxygenOS on the OnePlus devices is better than the MIUI on the Redmi K20 Pro.

Both smartphones come with the 48MP Sony IMX 586 primary sensor. The Redmi K20 Pro primary sensor (48 megapixels) comes with f/1.75 aperture. Talking about its secondary camera, the 13-megapixel wide angle sensor comes with f/2.5 aperture. In addition, an 8 megapixel telephoto sensor comes with f/2.4 aperture.

In OnePlus 7 Pro the 48-megapixel primary sensor comes with f/1.6 aperture. The secondary 8 megapixel telephoto camera comes with f/2.4 aperture. Along with this, there is a 16 megapixel ultra wide angle lens which come with f/2.2 aperture.

The OnePlus 7 Pro’s primary camera supports OIS while the Redmi K20 Pro doesn’t have OIS. In terms of photo quality both the phones should take good pictures but OnePlus 7 Pro have a slight edge over to Redmi K20 Pro. Once the Redmi K20 Pro is launched we can compare both the smartphones.

Both smartphones come with pop-up selfie mechanisms. Redmi K20 Pro has a 20-megapixel pop-up selfie camera with f/2.2 aperture while the OnePlus 7 Pro comes with the 16 megapixel pop-up selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture. In case of selfies, the OnePlus 7 Pro has larger aperture so it should click better photos.

Both smartphones come with 4,000 mAh battery. Both the smartphones support fast charging. In OnePlus 7 Pro, you get 30W Warp charging while in K20 Pro you get fast charging support up to 27W.

Our decision

The biggest difference between OnePlus 7 Pro and Redmi K20 Pro is in their price. Redmi K20 Pro has not been launched in India but its base variants should be launched arould Rs 25,000. OnePlus 7 Pro’s base variant (6GB + 128GB) is available at Rs 48,999. Apart from this, the OnePlus 7 Pro display is much better than the Redmi K20 Pro. Redmi K20 Pro comes with Full HD Plus AMOLED display while the OnePlus 7 Pro comes with 90Hz 2K Resolution Fluid  AMOLED display.
